I am trying to enable 5 Ghz hotspot so other devices can connect to my computer which is connected using cable. Everytime I select 5 Ghz as band for hotspot i get the message that the current band is unavailable. Since this is purely juridical, Is there a way to bypass it? The reason why you’re getting the «Current band is unavailable» error is due to your computer is not capable of creating a hotspot with 5 GHz of WiFi frequency because of the hardware limitation.

During my write-up my driver is Consulting intel would show that my WiFi card was not allowed to make 5GHz due to legal issues and limitations between Intel and Microsoft. This could mean a dead end but I have found a trick. My guess was that the 5Hz wifi was not ON by default so it needs to be forcefully enabled or should be the one broadcasting before you enable the hotspot toggle.

As you could see that it is faint and you could barely see a bar of signal at all.
It doesn’t matter as we only need to connect with this for a little while. Connect to it for a while. Make sure that you know the password too IDK if this is necessary though. Got to the WiFi Hotspot settings. The network band could be set to «Any available».
Toggle the button to turn-ON the Hotspot. Then you’ll have a 5GHz Hotspot. Also in my case, due to a very low 5GHz Wifi Signal, that Office Wifi 5GHz connection would drop after a few minutes but my laptop’s wifi hotspot would be retained.
Sadly, I have to do this procedure everytime that I want 5GHz hotspot. This site in other languages x.
